portraits for Cutler
One of my gigs this week was capturing updated headshots for my older brother, Cutler.
It’s kind of funny, I’ve been taking my pictures of him my whole life but it’s always a treat to see people in their “photo shoot” element. He brought 4 outfits, all awesome, and mostly paired with Vans. His sense of style has always been unique. I myself am unsure of his influence or inspiration, but he always has cool clothes and looks good in ‘em.
Cutler is 16 months older than me and a whole lot smarter. (A lot more smart? Just kidding.) Growing up together, I saw him as my mirror in many ways. Our sheer closeness in age made us concoct a little white lie every once in a while… “we’re twins!” Why was it fun or funny to tell people that? Not sure. But we were side by side a lot. He snowboarded, but I skied. He was an Eagle Scout and I sold the heck out of those Girl Scout cookies. I’m into writing and he has a calculator inside his mind - the Texas Instrument kind.
Our older sister moved out when Cutler was 14 and I was 13, and we had to figure out this new shared existence, just us two. I guess that’s where we really started trying to carve out our differences. As adults, I can now appreciate how much we are the same.
